We have been so lucky with the weather, so we've been taking advantage of it by using the bikes on the bike track.
They love it!

We have been learning about healthy eating and looking into sugar in food and drinks.
We visited Mr R's room to find out about sugary drinks.
It was really interesting. They showed us an experiment they had done. Why did the cans of fizzy sink, but the cans with no sugar, because they had sweeteners in them, float? The sugar was heavy. Too much sugar is bad bad bad!

The children are enjoying creating...their minds work overtime with paper, crayons and scissors.

More classifying, sorting 'at' and 'am' word families. Well done Dixie.
Working together.

The children are loving books and loving the secluded library corner.

Christie Harrison entered Payton into a competition to win prizes for her class. She wrote that the class works so hard on Teddy Bear words and 'tion' words eg condensation, information etc and guess what??? They won...Yeehaa!!!
Sarah and Martin from 'The Hits' HB came to visit us in Room 1. They were awesome. They talked to the children, the children asked them questions and then they gave each child a ticket to go to Bounce, Laser Force and a $50 voucher to go to Ocean Spa, which was won by Meeyah Keen.
In turn we gave Martin and Sarah a 'taste' of our phonics and they were blown away with the children's knowledge. They were great.
Thank you, Christie, for the wonderful treat.

The boys are classifying word families. You worked well together, awesome!
Tahjzae can write name. Great work!
Lockyer is writing the words that he knows.Well done

Then we had the 'WOW' factor for the children for Term 2!!!

Once upon a time.....Castle Library Corner

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair.......

We planted beans in Week 1 so Jack could climb up to the castle.
We have lift off! Most of the beans are growing well.

The class drew portraits of Puss in Boots. They are amazing!
Spot the real 'toys'....they were keeping Whaea JoJo company.

All of the children made their own designer toothbrush when we were learning to look after our teeth as part of keeping healthy.

Playing sight word twister, they love it as they learn!

Our Rocky Shore Trip

Wow, what an awesome day we had at Ahuriri. We left Mahora school at 9:15 and we were all so excited. We all hopped on the bus, the children started to sing, and away we went.
Bags on your backs, hats on, ready to go!

A bus full of 5 year olds!

We arrived at the rocky shore, we were met by two lovely ladies from the Aquarium, so we sat down ready to listen.

Yay, then down to the rocks to see what we could find.

We found a sea slug, did you know that if you stroke them gently the slimy cover parts and shows the shell inside?

 We found so many starfish.

                        We found a dead crab.

More starfish.

Another sea slug, some chitons and cat's                               eyes.

There was a lot of seaweed.

Time to leave the rocks and have some lunch.

After lunch we played on the two playgrounds.

                         Some helpful information.

Moving onto Marine Parade to go and visit Pania.

                      The children and Pania.

We listened to the story about Pania.

It was so hot, we had juicies while we were there.

We walked along the new lookout.

We are standing over the water.

It looks like we're sitting on the ocean!

A HUGE thank you to all of the parents and grandparents, who came to help with the children and the transport. this wouldn't be possible without you. :-)
