WHO ATE BABY BEAR'S PORRIDGE?????

This morning when we came into Team Tahi there were the Three Bear's sitting at one of our tables.  All appeared ka pai, until........... we noticed Baby Bear's porridge had been all eaten up!
Dilemma!
Who had eaten Baby Bear's porridge?
That was the question.

We needed to put our detective hats on and find out:
*  Who was the person who did this?
*  Was it a boy or a girl?
*  What was the person wearing?
*  Should we put the person's name in the Black Book, or should we look deeper and find out if there was a good reason for this person eating Baby Bear's porridge?
We had to get to the bottom of this!

We had to ask questions.
But what are questions?
We had lots of answers.
But asking questions was quite difficult.

1st:  We had to think about what we wanted to know
2nd:  We had to think about what questions to ask
3rd:  Our questions would have to lead us to the answer

Mmmmmmmm, that's easier said than done.
We'll have to turn, pair, share and discuss this situation.

In the meantime, we might eat the rest of the porridge!

After eating the delicious porridge, and sharing some with
Miss Smith - who loved it!, we sat down and thought about:
What we are learning to do:  Form and write a question that will lead us to the correct answer
SC: (student ideas)  Capital letter at the start and question marks at the end

We then wrote our questions in our writing books and Miss T made a Google Form to send the questions out lots of teachers who were around before school and may have seen the culprit.

The questions we asked were:
Did you see the person come into Team Tahi?
Where did you see this person?
What was the person wearing?
Should we put the persons name in the Black Book?
Was the person a girl or a boy?

These questions will help us find out who ate Baby Bear's porridge.

Some of the suggestions from the children were Goldilocks, or as Ali rightfully pointed out - it could of been the man from the story Stone Soup we read about last week because he was hungry and the villagers did share with him.  So maybe the Bear's were sharing.

Kalani thought the person was hungry and needed to eat so eating the porridge was ok.

Some our members think whoever ate the porridge was naughty and shouldn't of eaten it.

Tom pointed out that she was naughty because she did not listen to her mother and stay near her home.

Mmmmmmm, interesting points Team Tahi.

We are looking forward to unpacking the answers to our questions tomorrow and finding out who saw what!

We were awesome detectives and we look forward to become "question experts"

COLOURING UP WESTPAC!

Team Tahi and Waru were fortunate enough to be asked to colour up Westpac. We coloured in our pictures very very carefully and these were on display at Westpac during May.  Michelle, who organised all of this, came into school and every child got a packet of Westpac jaffas and two from each class received a prize.  I hope we get to do it again next year!

Michelle is awesome at organising Team Tahi and Waru to colour up the branch in Hastings!

And then she brings in prizes!   Yippee!

TEAM TAHI'S GREAT ADVENTURE

Team 1 had an amazing adventure into the Redwoods.  117 tamariki and nearly 40 adults shared the experience.  We had to tramp up hills, and down dales to get to the giant Redwoods.
Thanks to all our whanau who helped make our adventure possible!  You rock!
